(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, SEPTEMBER 3 - Tunisian customs officials on Wednesday seized 28 grenades, four RPGs and 6,000 cartridges found in a van bearing a Tunisian license plate on the Medenine-Ben Guerdane road. The driver and passenger have been arrested but neither their identities not their intended destination released. Ben Guerdane, in southern Tunisian, is the closest city to the Libyan border crossing Ras Jedir and is frequently the site of illicit trade and smuggling. Refugees from Libya often end up in Ben Guerdane, and 500 Syrian refugees are currently in the city as well. In recent weeks the government has placed the entire border area under the joint control of the police and the military.
