(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MAY 25 - Sixty-seven civilians, among which 12 women and 14 minors, including teen-agers and children were killed by Isis in the Palmyra region since the begging of the jihadi onslaught 12 days ago.

Ngo Ondus, the National Observatory for human rights, reported the death-toll over-night, after Syrian tv put the number at 400 civilian casualties, the majority of which women and children, during a broadcast yesterday. The Ngo added that 150 army officers, pro-government militants and alleged regime-informants were executed, mostly by beheading.

Other 600 soldiers, Assad regime militants and civilians, suspected of being "agents of the regime", have been made prisoners by the Islamic State and their fate is unknown.

The killings reported by Ondus occured in Palmyra and in the surrounding region, in the town of Al Sukhna, 30 km to the east in particular, as it is from here that the jihadist offensive began.

The ong points out that the majority of the civilians killed were accused of hiding members of the regime ISIS has been hunting down since the fall of Palmyra.(ANSAmed).
