Saudi women get free rides for breast cancer screening

Easy Taxi app to take them to the polls in November, too

15 October, 15:39

(ANSAmed) - ROME, OCTOBER 15 - Since women are prohibited from driving in Saudi Arabia, the company that created the Easy Taxi smartphone application and the Zahra Breast Cancer Association have begun offering free rides to enable them to have check-ups to prevent breast cancer, reports the Saudi Gazette. The service is offered in cooperation with some hospitals in Riyadh and Jeddah. The women interested in the service will receive a ticket for a free ride via the email address they use to register on the Easy Taxi app, the company said. Easy Taxi announced in September that they would be offering the same service to female voters in the first time ever they will have the chance to exercise this right, in the municipal elections to be held in four Saudi cities in November. ''We hope to be able to contribute to women's first time at the polls, to eliminate problems and make the procedure as easy as possible,'' they said. Women will vote for the first time ever in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al-Khobar. (ANSAmed).
