Migrants: 2,696 stopped in Turkey trying to enter EU

Over the past 10 days, 54 traffickers arrested

    (ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, JUNE 28 - A reported 2,696 migrants and refugees were stopped over the past 10 days by Turkish authorities while they were trying to illegally cross the border with the European Union. Some 626 were intercepted at sea, the Turkish interior ministry said.

    A reported 54 alleged migrant traffickers were detained over the same period on charges of attempting to organize illegal crossings. (ANSAmed).
