Migrants: 5,000 apprehended in Turkey over the past week

532 intercepted at sea, 148 suspected traffickers arrested

    ISTANBUL - Turkish authorities have apprehended over the past week 4,822 migrants and refugees who were trying to cross the border with the European Union or enter the country illegally, according to the Turkish interior ministry.

    The ministry said that 532 of them were intercepted at sea.

    Also, 148 suspected human traffickers were arrested.
