(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, MAY 3 - At least nine migrants, including four women and five children, died in the Aegean Sea after their boat sunk as it was headed to the Greek islands, Anadolu news agency said.

Another five passengers aboard the boat, including one woman and a child, were rescued off the coast of the Turkish town of Ayvalik, while three people are still missing.

The Turkish Coast Guard intervened with four vessels and a helicopter west of the uninhabited island of Ciplak, in the Turkish province of Balikesir, where it recovered the nine bodies and rescued five of the estimated 17 other people who were aboard the boat.

Rescuers are still searching for the other three missing people, one of whom authorities said may be a human trafficker.(ANSAmed).
