Gaza: after rocket, Israel hits Hamas targets

Qatar and Egypt try to avert escalation

    (ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV/GAZA, AUGUST 19 - The Israeli air force resumed hitting Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night, for the seventh consecutive day, following the launch of rockets and dozens of incendiary balloons towards Israel. An Israeli military spokesperson said a training camp for a special unit of Hamas was targeted. There was no news of victims. Meanwhile, the ambassador of Qatar, Mohammad al-Amadi, who maintains constant contact with Israelis and Palestinians, said his country is making "intense efforts with both sides to prevent further escalation and to alleviate the condition of the people of Gaza". On Tuesday, an Egyptian intelligence delegation also shuttled between Israelis and Palestinians to avert a new outbreak of violence.(ANSAmed).
