Hamas issues ultimatum to Israel to leave holy site

'Warning' to all soldiers, settlers by 6 p.m.

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, MAY 10 - Hamas has given Israel "until 6 p.m. to get its soldiers and its settlers out of the Al Aqsa mosque and the district of Sheikh Jarrah and to release those who have been arrested over the past few days", said the spokesman of the military wing of Hamas Abu Odeiba. He added: "you have been warned".

Following the ultimatum, Palestinian militias in Gaza activated a unified command room, according to some websites.

Growing tension and a climate of mobilization is felt in the city. Already last night the minarets of mosques launched appeals to youths to reach the demarcation line with Israel to challenge Israeli soldiers. Overnight, rockets were launched towards Israel as those in close proximity cheered with joy.

However, some online expressed concern and pessimism over fears that Gaza is on the brink of a new bloody conflict with Israel after Cast Led (2008), Pillar of Cloud (2012) and Protective Edge (2014).(ANSAmed).
