WHO Europe says not safe to resume international travel

Kluge says response 'fragile'. Vaccines effective vs variants

20 May, 13:45

(ANSAmed) - COPENHAGEN, 20 MAG - The head of the World Health Organization in Europe, Hans Kluge, said during a press conference that it is "not yet safe to resume international trips" because progress against the coronavirus pandemic is still "fragile".

"Right now, in the face of a continued threat and new uncertainty, we need to continue to exercise caution, and rethink or avoid international travel," Kluge said.

He said all of the authorised Covid vaccines are effective against the known variants of coronavirus, including the one that is fueling the current wave of infections in India.
