(ANSAmed) - LAMPEDUSA, JULY 7 - A reported 552 migrants
reached Lampedusa during the night and at dawn on Wednesday on
four different boats. One of the rescued boats, a fishing
vessel, was carrying 420 men, women and children of different
nationalities. The cutters of the coast guards and finance
police were able to rescue two small boats with seven and 13
Tunisians respectively and another vessel carrying 71 people who
were helped board two different cutters.
All the migrants, after landing on the Favarolo pier and undergoing an initial medical checkup, were taken to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district. Over the past two days only two landings were registered, due to strong winds in the Strait of Sicily: 15 people arrived on Tuesday and 24 on Monday. (ANSAmed)
