Climate: France sentenced to pay 10 mn euros for smog

Measures undertaken by State 'insufficient'

04 August, 17:07

(ANSAmed) - PARIS, AUG 4 - The Council of State in Paris has sentenced the French State to pay a fine of 10 million euros for failing to introduce "sufficient measures" to improve air quality. In a statement, it said measures undertaken by French authorities against air pollution "do not allow to improve the situation in the shortest time possible as the implementation of some of them appears uncertain and their effects have not been evaluated".

The Council of State, France's top administrative court, has been increasingly active in environmental matters. (ANSAmed).
