(ANSAmed) - ROME, AUG 4 - Wild fires are advancing towards Athens and threatening homes in some areas of the Greek capital where thousands of presidents have been forced to abandon their homes.

Since yesterday, rescue services and firefighters have been working to control the flames and in the early hours of the morning five fire fighting planes and nine helicopters joined the effort, according to Greek media.

Many volunteers are also on the ground as the fire is threatening the natural park of Tatoi, where the former royal family of Greece had its summer residence. (ANSAmed).
