(ANSAmed) - AGRIGENTO, SEPT 17 - Some 108 migrants including Tunisians, Egyptians, Nigerians, Syrians, and Libyans arrived on the island of Lampedusa over the night between Thursday and Friday.

Some 880 people are currently at the hotspot.

Over the night, carabinieri intercepted seven Tunisians that had landed without assistance at a commercial wharf with a six-meter-long boat, while the port authorities sighted a 12-meter-long boat about a mile from the coast carrying 87 migrants including a woman.

The Coast Guard then intercepted another six-meter-long boat about two miles south of Lampedusa carrying 14 Egyptians.

Two unaccompanied minors are scheduled to be transferred from the initial reception facilities using a Financial Police motorboat that will take them to Porto Empedocle, while about 200 migrants will be taken onboard the Allegra quarantine ship.
