Tunisia: Saied's approval rating rises to 77%, survey

    TUNIS - Nearly three months after the decision on July 25 taken by Tunisian President Kais Saied to fire the premier and suspend Parliament, 91% of those interviewed in a poll carried out by the Sigma Conseil Foundation, in collaboration with newspaper Al-Maghreb, said they were in favor of these measures. According to the same survey, confidence in president Saied has risen by 4 percentage points, to 77%, compared to the latest poll by Sigma. Saied was followed with 51% by Premier Najla Bouden. The political barometer in October indicated that Tunisians' confidence in the future increased for the third consecutive month, reaching 74.3%.

    According to the same source, 76% of Tunisians interviewed were in favor of the suspension of Parliament's work, and 75% favored the suspension of privileges granted to the president of the Assembly and its members. In addition, 84% were in favor of revoking lawmakers' immunity. The survey also indicated that 71% of Tunisians prefer the presidential system.
