TEL AVIV - An Israeli security guard was seriously wounded by a car that was driven against a checkpoint in Jabara (Te'enim) near Tulkarem in the West Bank.

The defense ministry described the attack as an act of terrorism whose author, a 16-year-old Palestinian identified as Muhammad Nadal Yunis, from Nablus, was killed as reaction by Israeli security forces. The Israeli was taken to hospital with severe injuries to the head, chest and limbs. This is the third attack after two in Jerusalem over the previous days.

After the attack all Israeli checkpoints with the West Bank were in a state of high alert. The order was given by Defense Minister Benny Gantz who "ordered a complete investigation" into the incident, his office said, adding that the "level of alert and reaction" was raised at all crossings with the West Bank.
