Arrest at Roissy airport as he was about to depart for Riyadh

    PARIS - An alleged member of the commando that killed Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul was arrested at the Parisian airport of Roissy, sources close to the case said on Tuesday.

    The man, Khalid Alotaibi, 33, was arrested on Tuesday morning at the airport in Paris and placed in pre-trial custody, French judicial and airport authorities said. According to other sources close to the case, the man was stopped by Police aux Frontières (border police) while he was about to board a flight for Riyadh.

    Khashoggi was killed on October 2, 2018, at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
