Four missing in another tragedy, including child, NGO says

    MADRID - Spanish authorities have certified the death of one of 19 people travelling on a boat rescued overnight yesterday near La Gomera, one of the Canary Islands, the archipelago's emergency service reports. Spanish news agencies added that some of the survivors were taken to hospital given their poor health conditions.

    The emergency service of the Canary Islands moreover reported that over the past few hours another boat was rescued off Gran Canaria . A total of 52 people were on board, including nine who were hospitalized. The NGO Caminando Fronteras, through its spokesperson Helena Maleno, said it gathered testimony according to which a total of 56 people departed from Africa, so four would be missing, according to such reports: a small child, two women and a man. The number has not been confirmed by Spanish authorities so far.
