Migrants: Tunisian Navy rescues 23 people

Including five women and one child

    (ANSAmed) - ROME, 21 GEN - The Tunisian Navy rescued 23 migrants, including five women and one child, aboard a boat in distress off the coast of Tunisia on January 19, said the Tunisian Defence Ministry in a statement.

    It said the boat, carrying 13 people from Mali and 10 from the Ivory Coast, had departed from the coast of Sfax the previous night.

    According to the statement, those rescued were taken to the fishing port of Sfax, where they were handed over to the National Guard, which will handle their case. (ANSAmed).
