NAPLES - An outdoor cinema in the desert, a survival trail among the dunes, the experience of admiring a sky full of stars from the ancient area of the Saudi city of AlUla. These are among the proposals that are part of a new touristic experience launched by Saudi Arabia for the month of March, with vacations aboard caravans transformed into tourist rooms so visitors can enjoy spending day and night in the country's desert area. The caravan glamping site, according to the online edition of the newspaper The National, is opening in the area of the ancient Nabatean settlements and looks at US tourist attractions, with a site in Nevada offering a similar hotel in the desert.
Each large caravan for tourists will provide comfortable beds, air conditioning, Wi-Fi in the latest adventure by tourist group Habitas. "We are excited to expand our brand in a new direction and to offer a new type of experience, we invite people to come on an adventure, to play in raw nature", said co-founder and chief executive of Habitas, Oliver Ripley. "We've chosen AlUla - one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula - as our first outpost for this new, immersive concept for its history, culture and natural heritage".
At the center of Caravan ALUla is a gathering tent, a communal place with a bar, where guests can get to know the other tourists. The venue also has an external barbecue where guests can prepare dinner under the Arabian stars.
