(ANSAmed) - GENEVA, NOVEMBER 5 - The UN and Arab League
special envoy for Syria still hopes a peace conference can take
place before the end of the year, Lakhdar Brahimi said Tuesday
after a day of talks with high representatives from the US,
Russia, the permanent members of the UN Security Council, and
other countries in the region.
''We hoped we would be able to announce a date today, but in vain. We are hard at work to see if we can have the conference before the end of the year'', Brahimi told reporters at a news briefing. (ANSAmed).
