(ANSAmed) - ROME, JAN 15 - President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, called for snap elections to be held in Catalonia on September 27. According to online Spanish media, the announcement came in the aftermath of an agreement between Mas' party Convergencia y Unio (CyU) and Erc, the separatist Republican Left of Catalonia. The two parties will file separate lists but the agreement reinforces the 2012 government pact which has the objective of reforming "state structures". Both CyU and Erc are vying for a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. (ANSAmed).
