MOSCOW - The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is willing to meet Israeli Premier Benyamin Netanyahu in Moscow, Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, said during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Serghiei Lavrov on Friday. "Mahmoud Abbas has already announced his willingness to take part in these negotiations in Moscow, and we are confirming it today," Erekat said.

Lavrov said Russia was "ready to receive the leaders of Israel and Palestine last September" and is "ready now", when Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas are "able to confirm their availability". Russian news agencies also reported that Erekat delivered a letter to Lavrov for President Vladimir Putin from Mahmoud Abbas, without detailing the contents.
