Israel: Lebanon 'will return to stone age' in case of attack

Minister tells Hezbollah: future 'Iran-Russia tension on Syria'

14 September, 17:20

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, SEPTEMBER 4 - Israeli Housing Minister Yoav Galant on Thursday said Lebanon will ''return to stone age'' if Hezbollah drags Israel into a conflict while a military drill simulating a large-scale attack from Lebanon was ongoing.

''Hezbollah are today an extremely atypical enemy because there aren't many in the world to have 100,000 missiles and forces trained to strike civilians'', observed Galant, a reserve general who in 2008 was deployed as a commander in the southern military area when Israel conducted Operation Cast Led in Gaza against Hamas.

In a radio interview, Galant also revealed that Iran is gradually gaining control of an area between the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean. Replying to a question, he observed that Russian forces in Syria are hostile to Israel. ''The day isn't far when tensions will arise (in Syria) between Russians and Iranians''. (ANSAmed).
