Migrants: meeting Italy-EU-UN for clarifications on Libya

15 November, 13:20

(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 15 - The head of the EU delegation in Geneva together with the Estonian presidency and Italian ambassador have meet with members of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to stress the Union's strong cooperation, with IOM and UNHCR, to improve the situation of migrants on the ground in Libya. The meeting was reported by a European Commission spokesman after OHCHR criticized EU and Italy's policies regarding Libya and the migrant crisis. ''The inhumane situation in Libya is not the outcome of our action but on the contrary the EU is working to improve conditions and we are reaching the first results'', said the European Commission's spokesman after criticism from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
