(ANSAmed) - NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 28 - The UN Security Council, of which Italy is the rotating president, will meet on Tuesday morning to discuss slave trafficking in Libya, following a report aired by CNN. The meeting was requested by France.

''The first objective is to raise the international community's awareness on the tragedy that is taking place and manifest strong and united opposition of the Security Council against such disparaging practices'', said France's ambassador to the UN, Francois Delattre.

''The second objective is to work on more effective responses to confront such a plague effectively'', he stated, adding that, ''Europeans are entirely mobilized to fight'' these practices.
