Erdogan vows to Putin to continue advancing on Afrin

'Consequences if Syrian regime supports Kurdish militias'

     ISTANBUL - Turkey will continue advancing towards Afrin with determination, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during a phone call on Monday, according to sources at the president's office quoted by Hurriyet.

    If pro-Assad forces support the YPG militias, Erdogan reportedly added, ''there will be consequences''. Putin was said to have replied that he was not at the moment in a position to confirm any agreement between the Kurdish militias and Damascus, which was announced during the day on Syrian state TV.

    The Kremlin reportedly nevertheless said that it ''understood'' Turkey's concerns about its border security.
