Libya: talks with Russia continue for truce, Turkey

After ministerial summit in Ankara Sunday annulled

15 June, 16:09

(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, JUNE 15 - Turkey will continue talks with Russia for a ''long-lasting ceasefire'' in Libya despite the cancellation of a summit scheduled Sunday in Turkey between the ministers of foreign affairs and defense of Moscow and Ankara, said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Turkey and Russia - which respectively support in Libya the UN-recognized government of national accord of Fayez al-Sarraj and the strongman of Cyrenaica Khalifa Haftar - had already declared over the last few hours that the discussion would continue before scheduling a new date for the ministerial summit, which was allegedly annulled because the two sides had not reached an agreement.(ANSAmed).
