Beirut: third minister resigns in 24 hours, media

After protests following August 4 blasts

    BEIRUT - Lebanon's Justice Minister Marie-Claude Najem has stepped down, local media reported, quoting the minister. After the ministers for information and the environment, Najem is the third cabinet member to resign in 24 hours following the controversy sparked by the deadly blasts in Beirut on August 4, which have so far killed 220 people. The council of ministers chaired by Premier Hassan Diab is scheduled to take place at 3 pm local time on Monday (2 pm in Italy).
    Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti had stepped down prior to the explosions.
