(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, APRIL 14 - Libya intends to lift visa requirements for Turkish citizens to foster the presence of Turkish companies in the country and encourage their investment in its reconstruction.

The announcement was made by Libya prime minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah before leaving Turkey following a two-day visit with 14 members of his government and numerous high-ranking officials from the armed forces.

"We will immediately begin procedures for a complete lifting of visas and for necessary initiatives to set up a Turkish consulate in Benghazi. We want the Turkish and Libyan private sectors to interact and collaborate and we will do whatever is necessary to facilitate this," the head of the Libyan national unity government said in meeting with a group of Turkish businessmen.
