(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, AUG 18 - The honeymoon continues for
Tunisian President Kais Saied and the electorate, according to a
new poll conducted by Sigma Conseil for Tunisian daily Le
Maghreb, in which 94.9% of respondents said they approve of the
president's decisions, compared to 87% in the previous poll.
On July 25, Saied sacked the prime minister, froze the work of parliament for 30 days, and revoked immunity for members of parliament.
The percentage of citizens who would vote for Saied again is also above 90%, at 91.9%, although 23.9% of those polled didn't respond to this question.
If early elections were held, the poll showed the top party would be the Free Destourian party (PDL) led by Abir Moussi, followed by an unspecified "party" led by Kais Saied (20.1%), the Islamic Ennahda party (11%), the modernist Qalb Tounes (8%) and the Democratic Current (5.9%).
A total of 77.1% of those polled think that Tunisia is currently on the right path.
