(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, MAY 12 - "We are today saying
goodbye to Shireen Abu Akleh, who was the voice of the truth and
the voice of the nation," Palestinian Authority president
Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday at the Muqata palace in the West
Bank in front of the body of the Al Jazeera journalist killed on
Wednesday in Jenin.
"We place the full responsibility (for her death) on Israel.
We refuse to carry out a joint investigation with Israelis, who committed this crime. We do not trust them," Abbas said.
He added that the case would soon be submitted to the International Criminal Court. Beside the president were Prime Minister Muhammed Shtayeh and Minister Hussein a-Sheikh.
The van carrying the coffin was escorted by a crowd when it left from a Ramallah hospital to the Muqtada and the presidential palace was also filled with people.
The reporter - who was Orthodox Christian - will be buried on Friday in a Jerusalem cemetery. (ANSAmed).
