Cross-Country Rally World Cup starts in Andalusia

1,200 km in 4 days, event will close in Saudi Arabia

    (ANSAmed) - NAPLES, MAY 7 - The FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup will begin on May 12 in Andalusia, continuing through the mountains of Kazakhstan and Russia before reaching the Mediterranean, from Morocco to Portugal to the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The rally this year will have a wider calendar that will bring pilots to different locations with their cars.

    New events of the season include a stopover in Saudi Arabia while the rally in Andalusia has reached its second edition and will kick off the world cup which was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.

    In the area of Villamartin, pilots will deal with different routes from 200 to 300 km a day in between desertic and hilly areas while all pilots are ready to debut their new cars: on May 11-12 there will be preparation checks for cars and then on the 13th the competitions will start in all typical territories of Andalusia: four days of rallies that will also prepare competitors for the next edition in Dakar.

    Overall, there will be 1,244 km of competitions in the provinces of Cadiz, Seville and Cordoba. The world cup at the end of seven days of competitions worldwide will close with the final days in Saudi Arabia in November. (ANSAmed)
