(ANSAmed) - MADRID, SEPT 1 - Spain saw 9 million tourist arrivals from abroad in July, about 800,000 fewer than those in the same month of 2019, the last year before the COVID pandemic hit. The figures are from Spain's National Institute of Statistics (INE).

In July 2021, international tourist visits had totaled 4.4 million.

The recovery of the sector from the impact of the pandemic was also seen in the economic figures associated with tourism as foreign tourists spent 11.8 billion euros in July: an average of 1,309 euros each.

This is almost the same level as that seen in the same month of 2019, INE noted. (ANSAmed).
