Italy is set to mark the centenary of
Pier Paolo Pasolini's birth with a slew of events, books and
shows in 2022.
The writer, filmmaker and public intellectual was born in the
Friuli village of Casarsa della Delizia on March 5, 2022.
There will be exhibitions in Rome, Bologna and other cities
while a new collection of letters by Dacia Maraini, a great
friend of the maverick writer, will be published.
Much of the material covers her trips to Africa with her
companion, the novelist Alberto Moravia, and Pasolini, an
inseparable trio of intellectuals.
There will also be a new book by the doyen of Pasolini studies,
Walter Siti, as well as collections by poets indebted to
Pasolini.
Other new publications will seek to shed fresh light on the
mystery still hanging over Pasolini's murder at Ostia near Rome
on November 2, 1975, at the age of 53.
