The incidence of COVID-19 cases in Italy has fallen to 26 for every 100,000 inhabitants, down from 32 last week, according to a draft of the latest weekly coronavirus monitoring report of the health ministry and the Higher Health Institute (ISS), sources said Friday.
The Rt transmission number is 0.68, stable with respect to a week ago.
An Rt over 1 indicates that the epidemic is in a phase of expansion.
The report said that all of Italy's regions are low risk for COVID-19, except for Sardinia, which is moderate risk.
It said no region was above the critical threshold for the proportion of intensive-care places occupied by COVID patients or for the proportion of places in other hospital wards taken up by coronavirus sufferers.
It said the intensive-care occupation rate was 8%, compared to a critical threshold of 30%, with the number of COVID patients in ICUs falling from 1,033 on May 31 to 688 on June 8.
The occupation rate for ordinary hospital wards was 8% too, with the number of COVID patients dropping from 6,482 to 4,685. The report will be presented later on Friday after being examined by the government's 'control room' COVID taskforce.
