Italian police on Wednesday arrested
39 including actress Ornella Muti's sister on suspicion of
importing and distributing drugs including fentanyl, 'rape drug'
GHB, synthetic substances and other pharmaceutical ingredients
belonging to the category of New Psychoactive Substances,
allegedly bought on the Deep and Dark Web.
The operation was carried out with the help of Europol.
Muti's sister Claudia Rivelli, 71, was placed under house arrest
on suspicion of importing another suspected rape drug, GBL from
the Netherlands and sending it to her son in London disguised as
shampoo, police said.
Rivelli had already been arrested on September 15 when police
found a litre of GBL in her Rome home.
She told police she was about to send the substance to her son
in London because he used it to clean his car, while she used it
"to polish the silverware".
Among the others arrested are a lawyer, a dentist, a
local-government functionary and a middle-school teacher who is
alleged to have had drug deliveries made at his school.
Police said those arrested included habitual criminals working
as drug traffickers as well as professionals in the public and
private sector.
