A foreign boy of about one year old
has been admitted to a Perugia hospital in critical condition
and is fighting for his life, with a head fracture, and abuse is
suspected, local sources said Monday.
The boy was transferred from the Perugia hospital to the Meyer
children's hospital in Florence after his condition worsened.
The toddler arrived at the ER in cardiac arrest and suffering
from hypothermia, wrapped in a wet blanket, medics said.
He also bore lesions whose nature and cause have not yet been
determined.
Police said they were not ruling out any leads.
It later emerged that the child had been admitted to hospital in
March for a fracture to its left humerus bone.
As well as the head fracture, the boy has presented with
swelling in the head area this time, medical sources said.
The child was taken to hospital by a countryman who is a friend
of the mother on Sunday.
