Leonardo da Vinci's architectural
designs will be on show in the Leonardo Museum in his birthplace
Vinci near Florence from today until February 27.
Wednesday's presentation was part of an international symposium
involving three foreign universities probing the inventions,
building techniques and urban projects of the Renaissance
genius.
The show analyses Leonardo's uses of trusses, ribs and straight
arches, along with other architectural features, illustrating
them via 3-D printing and other cutting edge technologies.
One section is devoted to the fortifications Leonardo designed
for Piombino near Livorno, and another on his designs kept in
Vinci's Leonardo Library.
