(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 3 - The 26th edition of the Ladies Italian
Open taking place for the second year running at the Golf Club
Margara of Fubine Monferrato near Alessandria will see 10
Azzurre vying to beat the world's best.
They include Giulia Molinaro, who came third in last year's KPMG
Women's PGA Championship; Virginia Elena Carta, who made her
debut in the Piedmont contest last year; Roberta Liti,
best-ranked Azzurra last year; Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso, who
recently won the Terre Blanche Ladies Open; and two upcoming
youngsters, Martina Flori and Erika De Martini.
Defending the title is 19-year-old Frenchwoman Lucie Malchirand
, while the past winners include Norway's Marianne Skarpnord.
There is also great expectation around the new revelation of
European golf,Sweden's Maja Stark, who has already racked up
three wins on the Ladies' European Tour (LET). (ANSA).
