(ANSA) - UDINE, 02 NOV - A multifunctional facility that serves as a tourist info point for the Carinthia and FVG cycling network, border museum, and integrated museum hub for networking the area's cultural and natural heritage. This profile describes the new Customs Museum opening in the renovated complex of former state-owned buildings, now owned by the municipality, at the Coccau (Tarvisio) border crossing with Austria. Built as part of the Idago project, cross-border marketing actions for networking the area's natural and cultural heritage, the museum is part of the idea of strengthening cross-border cooperation between the municipalities of Tarvisio (FVG) and Arnoldstein (Carinthia) to develop an integrated FVG-Carinthia cross-border network.

"A complex founded as a boundary or "watershed" has become a shared hub for the enhancement of neighboring territories and the communities that inhabit them," said Tarvisio Mayor Renzo Zanette, speaking at the presentation of the project. A similar ceremony was held at the "twin" museum in Arnoldstein.

The new Customs Museum in Coccau includes two exhibition spaces, one focusing on the history of customs and the other on networking the two territorial entities through the display of the most important nature sites in the border area. Furthermore, the two museum sites (Coccau and Arnoldstein) will interact with each other through exhibitions and events.

Another goal is, Zanette explained, to enhance the "common historical and cultural heritage along the axis of the Alpe Adria Radweg bicycle route, a direct link between the Central European bicycle network and the Adriatic Sea." (ANSA).
