Croatia: referendum initiative on euro entry launched

Almost 370,000 valid signatures needed

25 October, 15:19
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 25 - The right wing Croatian party Hrvatski Suverenisti has launched an initiative, called 'Let's Preserve the Kuna', to collect enough signatures to push the authorities to organise a referendum on the euro adoption in Croatia. According to local rules, almost 370,000 signatures should be collected in two weeks for a valid petition. Croatia is planning to achieve the euro entry by 2022-23 and surveys said that around 60% of the population is in favour of abandoning the kuna and joining the eurozone. (ANSA).
