(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JUL 22 - Ljubljana's green light to Slovenia's participation in the Upper Adriatic Sustainable Conference (November 19-23, 2022). Slovenia's environment minister, Uros Brezan, expressed this hope today in a videoconference with the FVG Councilor for environmental protection, energy, and sustainable development, Fabio Scoccimarro.

Slovenia, which could join Croatia, Carinthia, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna, has also expressed willingness to sign a memorandum of understanding.

The aims of the Conference, Scoccimarro underlined, are to unite the potentials of national and regional neighboring territories and outline common strategies on energy, climate, fight against marine pollution, defense of biodiversity, and the environment in general.

The first goal is to work on a closer collaboration to exchange best practices and achieve better coordination to discuss with one voice with the European institutions. Moreover, the Slovenian minister thanked the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region for its aid during the fire emergency in the Karst areas. (ANSA).
