Ukraine: Pelosi, bombing power plants is a war crime

'Ukraine fights for all of us, for our democracy'

(ANSA-) - ZAGREB, OCT 25 - "The destruction of the energy facilities in Ukraine is a war crime; the rapes, the kidnappings of children, the killings of civilians are war crimes committed by Putin," said the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi, attending the meeting of the Crimean Platform. The summit is underway today in Zagreb before some 40 high delegations from parliaments of Western countries.

"The parliaments of the world have gathered here today to express their admiration for Ukraine's fight for all of us, for our democracy," Pelosi underlined, recalling that US President Joe Biden has promised, "to stay with Ukraine until the end." "Crimea is Ukraine," she exclaimed at the end of her speech.

The Crimean Platform is a diplomatic initiative of Ukraine set up in August 2021 and designed to be an international coordination mechanism to promote the restoration of Ukraine's control over Crimea. A second meeting was held last summer as a virtual summit of heads of government, whereas today's meeting in Zagreb also launches the Platform's interparliamentary dimension. The conference was attended by 42 delegations from 32 countries, some by video link. The summit is the most significant international event ever organized by the Sabor, the parliament in Zagreb.
