Germany: Habeck 'vetoes' sale of microchips factory to China

Media, Economy Ministry proposed to government to freeze deal

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 8 - German Economy Minister Robert Habeck wants to prevent the sale of the Dortmund Elmos company's microchip factory to a Chinese investor. According to German media, including Dpa, a proposal was put forward to Olaf Scholz's cabinet. According to the assessments of the department led by the green vice-chancellor, the sale would jeopardize public order and security in Germany, and "softer means" of veto would be insufficient.
