Mittelfest, a bridge between peoples in a war-torn scenario.
Focus on the global issues at the festival opening in Cividale
23 July, 19:04After the first performances yesterday, the opening ceremony of the international art and culture festival was attended by, among others, the FVG regional councilor for Culture, Tiziana Gibelli, and the mayor of Cividale, Daniela Bernardi.
"When we presented the theme Unforeseen last November - underlined Mittelfest president Roberto Corciulo - we were thinking about the last few years we have lived through, characterized by a pandemic that has undermined certainties and changed habits and rules. In a scenario where the unexpected is even more topical, Mittelfest thus is responsible for representing the image of a new Europe and a renewed strategic role of Friuli Venezia Giulia." Festival artistic director Giacomo Pedini explained that "Mittelfest is unique because it encourages the relationship between Italy and Mittel-Europe, we have four collaborations with Austria, host country of the 2022 edition, Switzerland, Lithuania and Greece, in a cultural dialogue toward GO2025, Gorizia-Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture." Until July 31, 28 artistic projects from 15 countries will arrive at Mittelfest, including 20 world or national premieres and ten productions/coproductions. Tomorrow the festival will feature the show "Kuku" by Anatoli Akerman, one of the world's most famous clowns, and the world premiere of "Il silenzio in cima al mondo," a show made up of music and words about the life of the world-famous Friulian goalkeeper Dino Zoff, who turns 80 this year. The text is by Giuseppe Manfridi, and the music is by Cristian Carrara and Marco Attura, partly performed by an ensemble during the opening ceremony. In addition, renowned Italian actress Pamela Villoresi will be starring on stage.
