(ANSA) - TRIESTE, SEP 6 - To design and launch a new
multimodal logistics artery for goods, fundamental in the
dynamics of the EU, on the axis between Friuli Venezia Giulia
and Lithuania. This is the main objective of an international
cooperation framework agreement that will be
signed this afternoon in Trieste in the presence of Enrico
Giovannini, Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility
Sustainability in Italy, and by Marius Skuodis, Lithuania's
Minister of Transport and Communications. The project's main
partners for the Italian side are the Societa' Alpe Adria, owned
in equal shares by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern
Adriatic Sea, the Fvg Region and the Italian State Railways, and
Samer & Co. Shipping based in Trieste. The foreign partners will
be the Lithuanian railway company AB-LTG Cargo and the Duisport
Agency GmbH based in Duisburg. The memorandum aims to start and
enhance freight transport between Kaunas, Lithuania, and the
ports of Trieste and Monfalcone, including through the inland
port of Duisburg and the inland logistics system of Fvg, and
develop freight transport in other directions between the Baltic
Sea, Scandinavian countries and Italy. (ANSA).
