(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 04 OTT - Vard, one of the leading companies in ship construction, has signed with Norway's Norwind Offshore a contract for the design and construction of 2 Commissioning Service Operations Vessels, with options for two more vessels of the same type and for the sale and conversion of a Platform Supply Vessel, which will become a Service Operation Vessel. The contracts for the three laid-up vessels are worth about 140m euros.

The Commissioning Service Operations Vessels are based on the Vard 4 19 design and are tailor-made for worldwide support and maintenance activities at offshore wind farms.

The first vessel will be outfitted and delivered in Norway in the second quarter of 2023, with the hull in Braila, Romania.

The second vessel will be equipped and provided in Vung Tau, Vietnam, expected in the third quarter of 2024. The third vessel, a Vard-owned Platform Supply Vessel, has been in operation in Asia and Australia and will now reach Brattvaag, Norway, for an extensive conversion and outfitting.

The company will deliver the vessel in the second quarter of 2022 as a Service Operation Vessel. Norwind Offshore is a newly established company that will offer specialized vessels for operations related to the development and support of the offshore wind industry. It has a long history in the offshore and marine sectors and has developed a close bond with Vard by constructing a wide range of advanced offshore units. (ANSA).
