(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 23 GEN - TRIESTE, JANUARY 23 - A deep understanding of principles and goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the training of young and active citizens as key actors to achieve this growth, the design of projects through participation and competition are the objectives of the "Active Young Citizen for Sustainable Development in CEI and AII areas" project, presented this morning and designed by the Central European Initiative and the Adriatic Ionian Initiative with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Fvg Region.

The initiative aims to engage young people from 19 countries in central-eastern and south-eastern Europe through a two-stage process. The first stage entails learning the issues included in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, whereas the second stage will allow participating schools to compete with each other to present proposals, ideas, and projects relating to their local environment. The best plans will be awarded 20,000 euros each.

The Regional Councilor for Education, Alessia Rosolen, explained that the Region "decided to join the project to engage students on such strategic issues for their future, but also to foster contacts and relationships with schools in other countries within this area of Europe." (ANSA).
