(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 05 OTT - Visiting the archaeological sites
of Aquileia on a SUP is one of the initiatives launched as part
of Barcolana 54, taking place in Trieste, which this year "is
also archaeology."
Through an agreement with the Aquileia Foundation, the sailing
event promotes in this edition "one of the few archaeological
sites in Italy that can be reached by sea through the canals of
the lagoon, perhaps on a SUP."
The initiative was presented today at the opening of the
Barcolana Village. These days the Sailing Society of Barcola and
Grignano has organized a SUP "raid" from Grado to Aquileia,
along the canals, to explore the remains of one of the oldest
ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
The guided tour, the promoters explained, was all
nautical-themed and included the famous mosaics in the Basilica
to the remains of the river port to the amphorae and navigation
techniques of Roman times, recounted in the artifacts found in
Aquileia. This alternative proposal - organizers explained - is
dedicated to cruise passengers and sea enthusiasts, who will be
able to find one more reason to moor In Grado on their return
from the Barcolana. (ANSA).
