Transport: Fvg, Veneto, Carinthia working on a single portal

To simplify procedures for the trans-regional circulation

28 July, 14:38
(ANSA) - UDINE, 28 LUG - The "SWEET - Single Window for ExcEptional Transport" project, resulting from a cross-border cooperation agreement between the regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Carinthia, has the goal of establishing a single online portal to simplify authorization procedures and controls. Furthermore, it aims at facilitating the requirements necessary for the trans-regional circulation of HGV transports.

The project, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and Interreg V-A Italy-Austria 2014-2020, can benefit from European funding of almost 800,000 euros. The FVG Region presented the initiative in Udine, and the regional councilor for Transport and Infrastructure Graziano Pizzimenti, managers at Autovie Venete and FVG Strade, and leaders of the mobility sector from Veneto and Carinthia Carinthia attended the meeting.

"The future portal - reads a statement from Confapi FVG, which is a partner of the project - can be a useful tool for both economic operators, who can interface with a single platform by sending a single request for authorization; and for the managers, who thus can constantly monitor the transport, guaranteeing evident benefits in terms of safety." The association of SMEs based in FVG also underlined that the platform "respecting the principle of free choice on the route, once the carrier obtains the authorization, also suggests to carriers the possible travel corridors, simultaneously reporting all the useful information." The project's first experimentation will begin in March 2022, even if, as the regional councilor of the FVG Region for Transports Graziano Pizzimenti underlined, there is hope to stabilize the initiative to strengthen trade on Italy- Austria route and ensure compliance with safety standards for the entire road network involved. A study carried out by Autovie Venete reported that an average of 6,366 requests for HGV transport is processed annually in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto; 3,815 applications are handled directly by Autovie Venete, whereas 2,551 indirectly.
